Snatch Game event in Irish language Cluiche Snatch is looking for participants • GCN

Big linn don Cluiche Snatch!

The queer arts collective AerachAiteachGaelach are currently looking for participants for the very first Cluiche Snatch – a fully Irish-language Snatch Game event! Performers, actors, drag artists and Drag Race fans from all walks of life are encouraged to apply for the contest, provided they are willing to make us laugh as Gaeilge!

Cluiche Snatch will be recorded in May 2021 and the show will be broadcast on the AerachAiteachGaelach Youtube Channel as a flagship event for Bród (Pride) on June 26, 2021.

The winner of Cluiche Snatch will receive a grand prize of € 300.

Fans of the RuPaul’s Drag Race The franchise already knows Snatch Game as a staple of the series, but newcomers can expect a queer parody of the popular American game show, The matching game. Participants will pose as celebrities and other personalities while doing their best to keep audiences laughing with their witty gameplay. Only this time, all the humor and jokes will be in Irish!

If you or someone you know speaks Irish and has a character that they excel at imitating, be sure to register with AerachAiteachGaelach by April 16, 2021. Those interested can register. here.

Artists of all backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities are encouraged to apply. Likewise, the characters represented can be of any gender, if any. While the Cluiche Snatch event will be held in Irish, attendees should not feel limited to Irish and Irish speaking characters / personalities, but rather are encouraged to show off what their character would look like as Gaeilge.

AerachAiteachGaelach is organizing the event in collaboration with A Comhrá Queercal, a queer social group. The Cluiche Snatch is generously sponsored by Foras na Gaeilge as well as Oireachtas na Gaeilge.

Any questions about the event or how to apply can be directed to the AerachAiteachGaelach team at [email protected]
