Chipley, Florida (November 18, 2022)

Do you know your Scottish heritage? You can find out more about this at the upcoming Scottish Festival and Highland Games on November 19, 2022. The event will be organized by the First Presbyterian Church of Chipley, a local church dedicated to preserving Scottish culture in the Panhandle. At this all-ages festival, you’ll have the chance to meet other Scots-Americans, listen to traditional music and watch dance performances.

If that’s not enough, there are also sporting competitions like caber throwing (large logs) and stone throwing, as well as sheaf throwing. What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than discovering your roots?

The town of Chipley is only about 45 minutes from Dothan and Panama City. It’s a little over an hour west of Tallahassee.

This year’s honored clan is the North American Bell Clan. Other clans are also invited to attend.

Entertainment

This year, the music will be provided by Panama City Pipes and Drums and Ennis Pruitt.

The event will have clans present from all over the Florida Panhandle as well as Alabama.

The festival will feature vendors, pipe and drum music and the highly entertaining traditional Highland games. Members of different clans will exhibit their skills in events such as the weight on the bar, the caber throw, the Braemar stone throw and others.

This family event is held annually in Chipley, Florida, located between Dothan, Alabama and Panama City, Florida. For more information on attractions, events and admission…
