Rossendale Tattoo Studio Hosts ‘Squid Game’ Event

An East Lancashire tattoo studio is hosting their own Squid Game inspired event with the lucky winner getting a free tattoo.

Iron Hotel Tattoo Studio in Haslingden took inspiration from the hit Netflix show and plans to replicate some of the games featured on the TV show.

The event, which will take place on October 30, will be free and the big winner of the games will have the chance to win a free palm-sized tattoo of any style that will be created by one of the artists of the studio.

Laura Hamilton, who works at the studio, said: “We opened the store on a Friday night and decided we were going to do something on Halloween weekend.

“Squid Game came along and it was so popular we were like ‘why don’t we do something around this?’

“We want everyone to get together, get off, and have fun.”

The hugely popular Korean dystopian drama, written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, follows desperate people who are invited to participate in a mystery game for a huge sum of money.

However, the consequences of defeat are deadly and the contestants are killed if they lose any of the matches.

In its first 28 days on Netflix, Squid Game was watched by 111 million users, the company said.

Fortunately, the stakes are not that high for the East Lancashire Tattoo Studio event and there will be no violent repercussions from losing this match.

Laura added: “Obviously there are a few games that we can’t do and there won’t be any violence.”

However, there will be a non-fatal forfeit for losing a match that will remain a surprise until the hour draws near.

Laura said that “red light, green light,” “tug of war” and “marbles” are some of the games that will take place, adding that the team will “think” more over the next few weeks.

How to participate

The event will take place at 9 p.m. on October 30 and if you are interested you can message the tattoo studio Facebook page for more information.

The event is free, but a refundable deposit can be requested if the event becomes popular over the weeks.
