New pets available for adoption at shelters in the Castro Valley area

Looking to add to your family and make a positive impact on the world at the same time? Consider adopting a pet from a local shelter. Shelters in and around the Castro Valley have dogs, cats and other types of pets ready and waiting for someone to bring them home.

More than 6 million pets are placed in animal shelters each year across the country, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. However, only half of all shelter animals – about 3.2 million – are adopted each year, according to data from the ASPCA. This means that millions of animals – some right here in the Castro Valley region – are still waiting for their homes forever.

If you need help with your search, Patch and Petfinder are here for you. This week we have created the list of animals available for adoption near you. Whether you are looking for cuddles or companionship, one of these animals might be a perfect fit for your family. If you love cats, meet Gypsy, a short-haired maid for adoption. Or if dogs are more your thing, there are also several large dogs available.
