The Lincoln County Humane Society is opening a second site in Thorold and began work on its new shelter this spring.

The Humane Society has acquired the former Truck Toppers location on Highway 20 near the Pelham border, and staff and contractors are working to renew the 10,000 square foot facility as an additional home for homeless and adoptable pets of Niagara.

“LCHS is pleased to share this news with our community and the municipalities of Niagara,” said General Manager Kevin Strooband. “As we expand our footprint in Niagara, we are ready to help more animals and accept more municipal contracts. »

This location will see all humane and adoption services offered, similar to those offered at the Humane Society of St. Catharines site on Fourth Avenue Street.

The humanitarian society did not share the opening date of its new shelter and is currently in the process of upgrading the property. He plans to hold an open house in the future.

The humane society provides humane services in Niagara and animal care, control and protection services to the municipalities of St. Catharines, Thorold, Grimsby and Niagara-on-the-Lake.
