Lansing Animal Shelter Launches Latest Public Phase of $ 2.5 Million Fundraiser
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) is launching the final, public phase of the Create Hope, Complete Families – fundraising campaign with hopes of reaching its goal of raising 2.5 million dollars by November 19.
The Create Hope, Complete Families campaign was launched in 2019, but was ultimately put on hold when the pandemic struck.
“We were fortunate to receive some amazing and impactful gifts during the first phase of the campaign from local foundations, area businesses and community donors,” said Julia Willson, President and CEO of the management of the ACSS. “The Campaign Co-Chairs and the Campaign Cabinet join me in thanking these donors for their support. We are now calling on the community at large to help us carry out this campaign effort to provide the highest quality care to pets in need, while saving more lives. “
The aim of the campaign was to renovate dog adoption areas, as well as to create a cruelty prevention service.
“When completed, these renovations will ensure a great experience for our pets, foster families, and the many volunteers who help us on our mission,” said Willson.
Despite the pandemic, the shelter raised enough money to begin construction of an existing building to create the Cruelty Prevention Center. The full-scale center is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
“While the past 18 months have had an impact on our ability to move forward, we believe now is the time to focus once again on realizing our vision and achieving our campaign goal,” Willson said. “The Create Hope, Complete Families campaign will dramatically improve the quality of life for our pets by reducing stress, improving overall health and providing adequate space to socialize and exercise until what they meet their family forever. “
In addition to dog adoption suites and a cruelty prevention center, there will be ground improvements to reduce the spread of disease, expansion of food preparation and laundry systems to accommodate the size and scope of operations of the establishment as well as an expansion of the space designated for animal enrichment, exercise and play.
The final phase of fundraising hopes to raise a total of $ 500,000.
