Hurricane Ian | List of sporting and entertainment events impacted by Ian as storm barrels head for Florida and North Carolina

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) — Hurricane Ian continues to strengthen in the Atlantic and is expected to hit Florida and possibly parts of central North Carolina later this week. The Triangle area could see rain from Ian as early as Thursday night and Friday.

Event planners, schools and colleges in the region are already making decisions to keep people, players and staff safe.

Some move or postpone events. Some have not yet made their decisions.

Here is an ABC11 list compiled from the information we have received so far. We will continue to update it as organizers share their decision on the status of scheduled events.

high school soccer — the majority of games will be played on Thursday this week.

IBMA Bluegrass — Events moved indoors for Friday/Saturday

According to organizers, the IBMA Bluegrass Live! will move all music and activities scheduled for Friday and Saturday indoors. The performances, which were scheduled to take place on five different stages on Fayetteville Street, will now take place at the Raleigh Convention Center. The 115 vendors who are to set up and participate in the event will also set up inside the convention center.

The Carrboro-Music-Festival –– The event is proceeding as planned on Sunday.

Hurricanes at Lightning – Thursday’s game postponed

ECU South Florida – Saturday’s game was moved from Tampa to Boca Raton, Florida.

Starting Tuesday, these college football games are scheduled to be played on the scheduled date:

NC State at Clemson – The game is Saturday in South Carolina.

Virginia Tech at UNC – The game is scheduled for Saturday in Chapel Hill

Virginia at Duke – Game still scheduled for Saturday in Durham

NC Central at Campbell – The game is still scheduled for Saturday at Buies Creek, but kickoff has been moved to noon. The game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m.
