The normally quiet grounds of Octorara Covenanter and Middle Octorara Presbyterian Churches will be filled with the sounds and sights of all things Scottish on Saturday during the 5th Annual Scottish Covenanter Festival.
The event, which begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m., includes Highland games, dancing, live music, vendors, demonstrations and a range of Scottish dishes.
Concerts are scheduled throughout the day, with performances by the Washington Memorial Pipe Band, Charlie Zahm and Tad Marks, Fire in the Glen and harpist Kendrah Tozzo.
Athletes will compete in highland games competitions including stone throw, shot put for distance, flaming caber throw and braveheart sword throw among others.
Visitors can watch a haggis ceremony and watch demonstrations of spinning, weaving and sheep herding.
Scottish clans and organizations will be represented and vendors will offer Scottish products.
The festival will take place at 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville. Admission is $15 at the door for adults and free for children 12 and under.
