Game event to adopt the metaverse
Thailand Game Show (TGS) 2022, ASEAN’s largest gaming show, will provide two new areas for Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and the Metaverse, aiming to capture the growing popularity of these digital domains and create new business opportunities for gaming-related businesses.
The event will be organized under the concept of “Come Back”, following the easing of restrictions in the event of a pandemic.
The fair will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) from October 21-23, with organizer TGS expecting over 180,000 attendees, which could bring in 300 million baht in revenue.
Torboon Puangmaha, managing director of Online Station, a gaming digital media company and influencer network under True Digital Group, said his company has been hosting Thailand Game Show events for 17 years.
This year, Online Station is organizing the event in collaboration with Show No Limit, a trade show organizer.
The two new dedicated areas, one for NFTs and the other for the metaverse, will capitalize on the growing popularity of cryptocurrency.
The show also features a Business Matchmaking Zone, which will connect game publishers, developers, media and agencies to explore new business opportunities.
“TGS will make a significant contribution to the quest to make Thailand the gambling hub of Southeast Asia,” Torboon said.
He said the event will help promote gaming-related careers and businesses, such as gamers, esports athletes, game content creators and game developers, thereby increasing their international awareness.
Pongsuk Hiranprueck, Managing Director of Show No Limit, said the event will unveil Thailand Game Show’s first collection of NFTs, created by renowned artists and influencers.
The game zone and lifestyle zone are still the backbone of the show, he said, adding that attendees can explore new games, game materials, computer items and cosplayers.
