Entertainment events that got Kenyans excited in 2021 – Nairobi News

Love for breaking up and spending time in Nairobi remains at an all time high despite challenges associated with Covid-19 restrictions.

During the holiday season, for example, Kenyans have gathered in several entertainment venues to have fun and in style. This while the organizers took advantage of the demand, to plan a number of concerts even when the young audience demanded more.

Here are some of the events that have marked since.

Koroga feast

This event was among the busiest. It brought fans together with a taste of music from various local and African artists in an outdoor afternoon full of art, food and mellow vibes. Performances by renowned artists such as Ali Kiba, Diamond Platnumz, Alpha Blondy, Safi Keita, Awillo Logomba, Yemi Alade, Mercy Masika, Sauti Sol, Ethic, Samidoh among others, illuminated the thematic event.

Safaricom Jazz Festival

It is an event specially for jazz music lovers and fans who love the gentle rhythms of saxophone, drums, flutes and violins, commonly known as music that immerses you in good peaceful vibrations.

A creation of former Safaricom Managing Director Bob Collymore, the event offered music fans a fresh themed concert with jazz maestros like Salif Keita and Fatoumata Diawara from Mali, Jimmy Dludlu, Kunle Ayo from Nigeria and the Cameroonian artist based in New York Richard Bona in attendance.

Local jazz bands including Shamsi Music, Nairobi Horns Project, Mwai, and the Truth and GogoSimo Band, were also not left out.

Reggae concerts

In the recent past, Kenya has gained ground as the official reggae capital for East Africa with artists coming from all fans for performance after performance.

These include Wailers, Morgan Heritage, Christopher Martin, Romain Virgo, Jah Cure, Etana, Luciano among many others who have performed at least twice in the past three years.

Other events include Blankets and Wine, Choma na Ngoma, Oktobafest, Reggae in the Sun, African Nouveau, Thrift Social, Hype Fest, Jameson Connects Kenya, Terminal Music Weekend.
