PRINCE FREDERICK, Maryland – The Calvert County County Commissioners Council announces that county offices will close at noon on Thursday, December 23, and will remain closed on Friday, December 24, 2021, during the Christmas holidays. County offices will also close at noon on Thursday, December 30, and will remain closed on Friday, December 31 for New Years. In addition:

• The call solid waste management facility, which includes the landfill and transfer station, and all county outreach centers will be open on Friday December 24 until 4:00 pm and closed on Saturday December 25. All solid waste management facilities will close at 4:00 p.m. Friday December 31st and remains closed on Saturday January 1st.

• The Solomons sludge reception facility will be open on Friday December 24th until 4:00 pm and closed on Saturday December 25th. The facility will also close at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 31, and will remain closed on Saturday, January 1.

• The water and sewer billing and customer service office will close at noon on Thursday, December 23 and will remain closed on Friday, December 24. The office will also close at noon on Thursday December 30 and will remain closed on Friday December 31. On-call teams will be available for water and sewer service emergencies only at 410-535-3491.

• All Calvert County senior centers will be closed on Friday December 24th and 31st. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered on both days. All senior centers will close at noon on Thursdays 23 and 30 December. Meals on Wheels will be delivered and lunch will be served at 11 a.m. on both days.

• Public transport will operate on a modified schedule on Thursday 23 and 30 December. There will be no county bus service on Friday December 24 or Saturday December 25. The bus service will also be interrupted on Friday December 31 and Saturday January 1. For more information on specific routes, please contact the transportation office at 410-535-4268.

• Calvert Libraries will be closed from Friday December 24 to Sunday December 26 and will reopen Monday December 27 at 9 am. Libraries will also be closed on Friday December 31st and will remain closed until Sunday January 2nd. They will reopen on Monday, January 3 at 9 a.m. All digital documents and services will continue to be available 24/7 through calvertlibrary.info.

• The Calvert Marine Museum and Museum Store will be open from 10 am to 2 pm on Friday December 24 and closed on Saturday December 25. The museum will be open to members only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 31 and closed on Saturday, January 1. The museum shop will be open to everyone, including non-members, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 31.

• The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter and Animal Control Division will close at noon on Thursday, December 23 and will remain closed until Saturday, December 25. Animal services will also close at noon on Thursday, December 30 and will remain closed until Saturday, January 1. Animal Control will be on call for emergencies.

• Southern Community Center and Dowell House will close at noon on Thursday, December 23 and will remain closed until Saturday, December 25. Both facilities will also close at noon on Thursday, December 30 and will remain closed until Saturday, January 1.

• The Mt. Hope, Harriet E. Brown and Northeast community centers will be closed on Friday December 24 and Saturday December 25. The facilities will also be closed on Friday December 31 and Saturday January 1.

• All amusement parks, including Dunkirk, Hallowing Point and Cove Point parks, will be closed on Saturday December 25th. The parks will be open during normal winter hours on New Years Day.

• The Chesapeake Hills Golf Course will close at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 24 and will remain closed on Saturday, December 25. The golf course will be open on Friday 31 December and golf carts must be returned by 2:30 p.m. will be open during normal business hours on Saturday January 1st.

• The Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center will be open from 6 am to 5 pm on Friday, December 24 and closed on Saturday, December 25. The aquatic center will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, December 31 and closed on Saturday, January 1.

• Flag Ponds Nature Park, Battle Creek Cypress Swamp and Kings Landing Park will be closed on Saturday December 25th. Battle Creek Cypress Swamp will close at noon on Thursday, December 30 and reopen during regular park hours on Friday, December 31.
