Billikens enjoys successful Get HER in-game event

ST. LOUIS- The Saint Louis University Athletics Department held a very successful “Get HER in the Game” fundraiser on Thursday, October 13 at the Lorenzini Restaurant inside Chaifetz Arena.

Thanks to a matching donation of $25,000 from an anonymous donor, a total of over $65,000 was raised for the scholarship – a record fundraiser for the event. This year’s event was the 18th annual Get HER in the Game fundraiser in support of scholarship and athletic opportunities for female student-athletes at SLU.

Jordan Kantola, a freshman nutrition and dietetics student from Thayer, Mo., of the Billikens’ cross country and track and field teams, was this year’s Get HER in the Game scholarship recipient. She joined an exceptional panel consisting of Kathryn Sansone (BA – education, volleyball), Jodi Petersen (BS – business administration, basketball) and Kristi Stevenson (BS – accounting and finance, master of business administration business, softball) as they talked about the 50th anniversary. of Title IX and their experiences as student-athletes at SLU.

“We couldn’t be happier with the turnout for this year’s Get HER in the Game fundraiser,” Billikens athletic director Chris May said. “We are especially grateful for the contributions that have been made to enhance athletic opportunities for our female student-athletes here at SLU.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of our matching donor who helped us raise a record amount,” said May. “Furthermore, we appreciate the support of our title sponsor, Lewis Rice, and the Missouri Athletic Club, who sponsored the cocktail reception. WELCOME. We would also like to thank the Get HER in the Game Committee for their hard work, time and its efforts. The department’s commitment to excellence in women’s athletics helps ensure that this vital initiative will continue to thrive in the future.”
