A tractor-trailer carrying 80 cows overturned early Thursday morning in Winston-Salem. The crash happened around 4:05 a.m. in the northbound lanes of US Highway 52 near I-40. The affected area of US 52 is expected to remain closed. Following the crash, authorities said around 10 cows escaped into the Waughtown and Old Lexington neighborhoods and it took crews several hours to surround them. First responders from the Winston-Salem Fire Department, a large animal rescue team, emergency management, Winston-Salem Police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol participated in the incident. Following the crash, authorities said about 10 cows escaped into the Waughtown and Old Lexington neighborhoods and it took crews several hours to surround them.
First responders from the Winston-Salem Fire Department, a large animal rescue team, emergency management, Winston-Salem Police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol participated in the incident.
